Alpaca is resistant to pilling and will not shrink if proper care is given. It contains a natural resin which protects the wool from aging and provides a built in resistance to odors, staining, moisture and static. It has a thermal nature as a result of the hollow core within each follicle and the lack of natural oils in the alpaca’s coat. This allows clothing to “breathe,” keeping you warm, yet feeling lightweight. Warmth without the weight!

The smooth surface of follicles from the superior fleece used in our clothing eliminates the prickly effect often associated with more coarse fibers. Alpaca fiber has a natural occurring rich luster, giving garments high visual appeal. Once knitted, the fibers drape beautifully over one's body, rather than being stiff, as is the case of some fibers. There is nothing quite like the silky, velvety feel of an alpaca garment against your skin!

Important Note: Alpacas are not killed in the US to obtain their fleece. They are shorn each spring, much like sheep. Shearing allows the alpaca to tolerate the hot summer months. Fleece grows back several inches by the time cooler weather comes again.
